The Guard News" was first published in 1951 as a way for members of the UPGWA to stay updated on union victories and the current state of the Labor Movement. The newspaper continued to be published until the 1990s.
SPFPA is a top international security union, currently under the leadership of Union President David L. Hickey, who works tirelessly to advance the interests & welfare of every member.

SPFPA™ President David Hickey and Vice President Mark Crawford
joined Local 545
leadership at contract negotiations. Local 545 Boston officers have made
significant improvements and gains from where they were at with their previous association,
and are happily welcomed into the growing, international SPFPA™ family.

professionals working a variety of organizations, including the U.S. federal
court system, the Department of Energy, correctional facilities and more.
